The Bipeds is a dance-theater company and rock & roll band under the artistic direction of dancer/choreographer Stacy Wolfson and banjo player/ songwriter Curtis Eller. In their pusuit of a collaborative ideal, Wolfson and Eller have devised a unique compositional approach that seamlessly combines movement, music and lyrics to create a peculiar and compelling hybrid of dance and song. They cast the finished pieces with performers possessing the curiosity, technical proficiency and requisite disdain for boundaries to delve into one another's mediums. Musicians become dancers, dancers become singers, and unhinged howls of wild abandon give way to moments of harmony and grace. The Bipeds made their theatrical debut in June 2016 with the evening- length, Never Enough Better Nothing. Wolfson and Eller have since developed a series of music and dance duets entitled Hypnagogiacs which they have showcased in festivals in North Carolina, Virginia and New York. The Bipeds' newest and most ambitious, evening-length production, 54 Strange Words has been performed in a variety of theatres and festivals in Durham, Chicago, Virginia and New York City. Wolfson and Eller are diligently at work developing material for their next major production, tentatively titled Bury the Light.
